I have never left a bad review anywhere before, but i can’t stand the thought of another person feeling the way i felt after leaving this salon yesterday. the first two photos are what i left with. the second two photos were my reference photos.
I booked a balayage and told the stylist that i liked the dimension of my first reference photo but i wanted to keep my red tones like in my second reference photo. my stylist seemed to understand but once her supervisor came over to sign off, she immediately said that i did not need a balayage but instead listed off a bunch of hair stylist jargon that i did not understand. she then reassured me that it would be better for less damage. I made sure she understood that i did not want my roots touched, i wanted lighter ends and darker roots exactly like my reference photos. (Yes, i should’ve asked her to clarify what the plan was, but the way she dismissed my original plan already made me feel so stupid)
the stylist then begins working on my hair, i could not see what she was doing at any point during the appointment because she did not boost my chair up and various things were covering up the bottom of the mirror. Throughout the whole appointment about 6-8 different stylists came over and talked about how good it looked. Halfway through the appointment my stylist was talking to another stylist and i learned that she is actually color blind to reds and browns which i would usually be fine with if her fellow stylists weren’t lying to her and gaslighting me into thinking it’s turning out good.
After she was completely done i was so upset but i didn’t say anything because honestly i just wanted to leave, i was just so done. She even said to me after the appointment “wow it’s almost like a reverse balayage!” aka the exact opposite of what i asked for.
I don’t blame the stylist, she was very nice to me, she is obviously a student, it was her supervisor that led her to this atrocity. i left her a good tip because I hope that one day she can get a better quality education elsewhere.
This salon also offers discounts to those who leave reviews which is such a red flag….
