beauty-schools-odd-beauty-secretsReaders loved our list of Odd Celebrity Beauty Routines (including one to get rid of cellulite) so much; we decided to do it again with more bizarre secrets celebrities do behind closed doors to maintain their glam status.

Brush those choppers and… your face? Wait, what?
So you’ve probably heard the slogan, “You don’t have to brush all your teeth, just the ones you want to keep?” Well, Jennifer Love Hewitt has taken that saying to a whole new level. Allegedly, JLH uses toothpaste to dry up pimples.

Surprisingly, this old beauty method isn’t really a surprise at all. Certain models, celebrities and high school classmates have tried this old wives’ remedy. Although, there’s no scientific reasoning to support the tooth paste claim, it does seem to work to an extent. Something about the ingredients in the toothpaste: baking soda, enzymes and zinc chloride among others can help calm the skin, alleviating irritation.

So the next time you’re checking yourself out in the mirror while brushing your teeth at night, don’t be ashamed if you feel like dabbing a little cavity fighter paste onto that unsightly zit.

Giving a whole new meaning to the insult of “butt face!”

We all know the use behind (pun definitely intended) hemorrhoid cream. But, have you ever heard of its other use?

Apparently Sandra Bullock, during her filming of Miss Congeniality 2, learned that hemorrhoid cream can help reduce wrinkles and puffiness if applied under the eyes. It makes sense when you think about hemorrhoid cream’s traditional use. The active ingredients in the cream help to temporarily tighten the skin under the eye in the areas applied. The result is a reduction in puffiness and a decrease in the appearance of wrinkles – those unwanted age tellers.

You cook with it, you pop popcorn with it and you can soften and you can also smooth your hands with it. And no, it’s not a microwave…
It’s olive oil – a very versatile cooking ingredient. We all know this. It’s used to help prepare and flavor many diverse dishes. However, what you might not know is the little beauty secret associated with it.

Supposedly, Julia Roberts soaks her hands and nails into olive oil to keep them soft, smooth and healthy. Because olive oil is rich in fatty acids – particularly Omega-9 and Vitamin E and K, these ingredients work together nourishing the skin and nails, as well as protecting them. If you’re really into the whole oil on skin treatment then olive oil is also great for treating the hair.
