These talented individuals have done everything from giving haircuts worth thousands of dollars to continuing to hone their barbering skills late into their elderly age. One impressive hairstylist is likely the envy of other hairstylists everywhere. This man, Stuart Phillips, is renowned for giving the most expensive haircut in the world. Want to know how much he charged for a simple layered cut? The price tag was over $16,000, and the lucky client was a woman who could not find a hairstylist that she liked in all of Italy. She needed to make a last-minute appointment, and the reason she chose this hairstylist was due to seeing his name splattered across the pages of Vogue magazine.
Another impressive hairstylist is Anthony Mancinelli, who continues to practice hairstyling as a 96-year-old man in Italy. While Mancinelli may have had years to develop his talents in hair styling, the same is not true for professional hair stylist Aycan Kemal. Aycan Kemal is known for her ability to braid in the fastest time in the world. At the Afro Hair and Beauty Show she did cornrow braids in the hair of a client in only 15 minutes. She completed over 26 braids during this time!
The ability to braid in only minutes is not the only skill hairstylists can complete in limited time. John McGuire is a hairstylist from Ireland who was able to shave 60 heads in only one hour. Clare Madden is another hairstylist with the ability to beautify many clients in only an hour. Her world record is that she was able to apply lipstick to 467 clients in only one hour! The participants gathered at the beauty department in Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield. Each participant was given her own lipstick, and a volunteer applied the lipstick to each individual participant.
Some hairstylists enjoy breaking world records that benefit charities, and these hair stylists participated in the Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign. Individuals participating in this event donated over 100 pounds of hair in 24 hours for the Mississippi Institute for Aesthetics, Nail and Cosmetology.
Other attempts to break world records seek to complete the maximum number of bikini waxes or nail manicures possible. A team of individuals from the Priceline and Sally Hansen event completed over 2,500 manicures in 8 hours. At the Every Women’s Expo in 2004, a woman did 262 bikini waxes in only 4 hours.
