Our model for this cut is Shana. Shana has thick, beautiful hair that is already cut to about chin-length. She loves the low-maintenance style of her short cut, and is ready to take her style to the next level by going even shorter.

To begin this style, we cut straight across the bottom of the hair line at the back of the head until achieving the desired length. This is called a zero-degree cut.
Next, we perform a 45-degree vertical cut around the bottom of the crown. You’ll need to make sure that your cut is directing the angle of the hair upward to the crown.
We continue cutting at a 45-degree vertical around the head. You can create some wispiness and movement around the ears by point-cutting. This will add texture and volume to the short cut.
Now, we proceed onto a zero-degree cut across the top of the hair, texturing along the way. This texture makes the hair piecier and adds layers to the cut.
To cut Shana’s bangs and make sure that they combine well with the rest of this short cut, we drag a razor across them at an angle, which also helps to frame her face.
That’s it! We’ve finished creating a low-maintenance short cut! Doesn’t Shana look edgy?
