I am in high school and when i get older i want to become a cosometologist. Unlike some poeple I want to own my own hair salon. Some people just want to work for someone but not me.

i love cutting hair and doing make up.as i remember since i was 8 yrs old i already had an interest on hair styling.i remember my aunts would go to my house for a free haircut during that time, and untill now. they still want a free service haircut, make up, eyebrow shaping and even manicure and pedicure from me.thats why i wanted to go to beauty school to get a proper traning and liscense so that i can open up my own beauty salon. and i even cut my own & my familys hair.LOL!

Make sure when you are choosing the Cosmetology school that they have alot of traffic so you get the opportunity to get alot practice before you enter the real world. One huge tip….. go to school everyday so instead of wasting you’re time and money on the extra time in school you could be putting in in YOUR pocket!!!
Shawn, What kind of tips for cutting mens hair would you like? One major thing is when blending a fade, use you’re mirror. Step back, turn your clients chair and look in the mirror. You will see the line (if present) everytime.
Avon, The motivation and drive you have for the industry is awesome!! Take it and run with it. There are so many different opportunities in this field its amazing. I work in the salon and teach at the school now. I have worked with different product lines, had a bridal hair buisness, traveled all over and have enjoyed every minute of the journey!! Good Luck
