Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology License Information
In order to obtain a license in cosmetology, aesthetics or manicuring
in the state of Tennessee, students must complete the requirements

Requirements The Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology shall issue a license to any person who meets the following requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age
Pass a written and practical examination is required
Complete the required course hours in the practice and theory at a school of cosmetology
Reciprocity The Tennessee State Board of Cosmetology requires applicants with
out-of-state licenses to meet the minimum required classroom training
hours. If you are licensed but do not meet the required classroom hours
and cannot provide a 5-year work history, you will need to submit your
application for reciprocity to the board office.
