Objectives
This Academy has established
itself as a reputable establishment in the
field of health, beauty and well-being and
continues to strive for excellence and professionalism
in facial skin care, beauty therapy and
nail technology. A broad range of educational
courses, seminars and subjects are presented
with the understanding of both Eastern and
Western philosophy and methods.
The mission of the Academy of Palm Beach
is to provide skill, development and quality
career education to become competent specialists
in a high-demand career field.
The Academy of Palm Beach primary goal is
to train career minded individuals and offer
education which will prepare our students
to meet all the requirements and skills
necessary to become licensed specialists
with proper training and experience in their
careers.
Facial Skin Care
This program of study is designed to meet
all Florida requirements and learning objectives
as an entry level "Facial Specialist". The
skin care industry is a growing segment
of the $18 billion salon and cosmetic industry
and qualified Facial Specialists are in
demand in many spas, resorts, department
stores and full service salons throughout
Florida and the United States. Excellent
career opportunities exist for experienced
facial specialists or estheticians.
Beauty Therapy
The Beauty Therapy program of study is designed
to teach and train students with the knowledge
and requirements necessary in entry level
positions in massage therapy and skin care.
Beauty Therapy which, is popular in Europe,
includes training in facial skin care, aromatherapy,
thalassotherapy and body wraps enabling
the graduate student to qualify for a variety
of positions with many establishments, spas,
resorts and full service salons or the ability
to become self-employed. The Academy was
the first Florida School licensed to teach
this course of study.
Nail Technology
This course is designed to prepare students
as entry-level nail technicians; learning
the art of manicuring, pedicure and adding
extensions to the natural nail. In addition,
students will learn the art of sculpting
nails, including overlays of gel, fabric
wrapping and acrylic. Also covered is the
anatomy and physiology of the hand, arm
and foot, the nail and its disorders, business
ethics, the theory of chemical composition
in products and safely in the school and
salon.
Cosmetology
This program of study is designed to teach
and train students with the necessary skills,
knowledge and practical experience necessary
for the student to apply for licensure in
the State of Florida and work as an entry-level
cosmetologist. Students will learn proper
use of hair implements, coloring, chemical
treatments, hairstyling, hair cutting, shampooing,
conditioning and facial skin care, waxing
and hair removal, manicuring, pedicuring
and nail extensions.
Massage
This program of study in massage therapy
is designed to teach and train students
in a variety of situations that may be encountered
as an entry level massage therapist. Successful
completion of this course will enable the
student to become a trained therapist capable
of working in a variety of professional
establishments including resorts, spas,
prestigious country club communities, full
service salons as well as working with physicians
and chiropractors or the ability to become
self-employed. Massage therapy is presently
one of the fastest growing career professions
in the United States.
Our objective is to motivate students to
become qualified Massage Therapists capable
of passing the State exam. This course offers
an excellent foundation for the student
to become a well-trained professional Massage
Therapist and enable the student to further
their education in the field of holistic
health care
Location and Facilities
The academy is located in a two story, 8500
square foot, professional complex complete
with central air-conditioning, offices,
classrooms, conference and lounge area,
exercise and massage training room, private
and semi-private treatment rooms, two saunas,
six showers, lockers and a complete bookstore.
The academy has additional classroom space
of 3300 square feet at 4889 Lake Worth Road,
Greenacres and approximately 850 square
feet at 3033 South Military Trail unit #20,
Lake Worth.
The first floor has special facilities for
the handicapped including parking, restrooms,
a common area, classroom and treatment rooms.
The second floor does not offer special
facilities. Textbooks and course materials
are available in braille through the Division
of Blind Services.
The academy has its own Oasis Lounge Waterfall
Chair, Alpha Health Environmental Capsule
and Hydro Massage Tub. The Waterfall Chair
with its zero gravity contour couch is based
on NASA research according to the manufacturer
Design Studio located in New York. This
shape holds the body in the form it takes
naturally during weightlessness. The Waterfall
Chair emits a wonderful lush water sound
while moist heat relaxes sore muscles. The
new revolutionary Alpha Health Capsule has
achieved perfection in its quest for natural
health and beauty. This capsule features
user-friendly controls for operating the
many functions displayed on the panel. With
the aid of a computerized control panel,
dry sauna, intensity of massage vibrations,
face air speed, stereo sound levels and
aromatherapy scents are personally operated.
There are ten pre-programmed sessions ranging
from relaxation to weight loss and feature
profound relaxation and visual light effects
at predetermined wavelengths.
The Hydro Therapy Tub is used for a variety
of treatments including seaweed, mud and
aromatherapy. Hydrotherapy Massage is extremely
beneficial to any stress related health
problem and used in sports therapy and the
treatment of other health conditions. Water
pressure and temperature are adjustable
to provide personalized comfort and twelve
therapeutic multidirectional jets pulsate
and stimulate for maximum effect on all
parts of the body.
Classes at the Academy are designed so that
everyone attending receives the maximum
benefits of both classroom and practical
application. Classroom/laboratory size is
approximately 30 - 40 students with a maximum
of 60.
