Facilities
Altoona Beauty School's fine reputation
has been maintained since its establishment
in August 1956. In the past 45 years ABS
has graduated thousands of professionals.
Many of our graduates have gone on to work
as stylists, salon managers, platform artists,
and salespeople at beauty supply houses.
A great deal have opened salons and surpassed
even their own dreams. Altoona Beauty School
continually strives to update and improve
our facility and curriculums to offer students
the best education at an affordable price.
Our objective at Altoona Beauty School is
to prepare our students for a successful
career in today's modern world of cosmetology.
To achieve these goals, we have a staff
of five instructors who are licensed by
the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology.
Our staff has had many years of teaching
experience, as well as salon experience.
The staff attends various seminars and workshops
throughout the year to stay on top of today's
ever changing hair trends, as well as teaching
techniques.
Electrology Program
If you have a desire to work in an area
of the Beauty Industry that is growing rapidly,
our Electrology Program is for you! ABS
has a separate program related to hair removal.
Our Electrology Program offers instruction
in both permanent and temporary hair removal.
Our Electrology Program is designed to prepare
the student in a knowledgeable background
of the history of hair removal, various
hair removal techniques, different methods
of electrology, and starting a practice.
The Electrology Program will consist of
lectures, audio-visuals, theory testing
and hands on practice. Upon completion of
the program, the students will be able to
professionally apply the latest techniques
in temporary and permanent hair removal
as well as being knowledgeable in opening
a practice. Electrology practices have been
opened separately or as an added service
to salons and doctors offices.
 Esthetician
If you have the desire to work
in the fast growing Skin Care Industry our
Esthetician Program is for you! ABS has
a separate program related to the study
of skin, technique usage, and products to
keep the skin supple, healthy and attractive.
Our Esthetician Program is designed to prepare
the student in a knowledgeable background
of skin structure, disease and imperfections,
various facial treatments, and make up applications.
Cosmetology Teaching
Cosmetology Teaching will keep you abreast
of all the latest techniques and new trends
of the business. It also provides a steady
income, benefits, a chance to meet and work
with many different types of people, and
gives a great deal of satisfaction.
Obtaining your Cosmetology Teachers License
opens many other doors in the cosmetology
industry. Beauty Distributors, and Product
Companies are always looking for licensed
teachers to promote new products, conduct
hands on seminars, do platform work, or
be sales consultants. Having a teacher's
license also permits you to manage salons,
this will give you an edge over the other
applicants applying for the same job.
Cosmetology
If you enjoy working with people, making
them feel better about themselves and having
a flexible work schedule, you are definitely
interested in a Cosmetology Career. Cosmetology
can offer you many opportunities because
it is a creative career. Obtaining your
cosmetology license opens many other doors.
You may only be interested in being an operator
at a small salon, however the possibilities
are endless. For example, you could specialize
and become a makeup artist, hair color technician,
platform stylist, salon manager, salon owner,
cosmetology instructor, the list is endless.

Manicuring Program
If you have a desire to work
in the ever growing Nail Care Industry,
our Manicuring Program is for you! ABS has
a separate program related to the care of
hands, feet and nails. Our Manicuring Program
is designed to prepare the student in a
knowledgeable background of nail structure,
diseases and imperfections, various manicuring
techniques, and sculptured nails.
