Milan Institute of Cosmetology offers a college atmosphere conducive to learning and individual growth.

Milan Institute of Cosmetology has separate classrooms for theory and practical instruction. The clinical area is well equipped for hands-on instruction in all areas of cosmetology. A library/media source area offers books and videotapes on cosmetology basics, as well as on advanced areas of this field of study. Additional theory assistance is available on a one-on-one basis.

Cosmetology Program
1500 Hours / 50 Weeks

Cosmetology is an exciting, fast-paced career that is constantly evolving with new ideas, techniques and equipment. Cosmetologists work with a variety of people each day, assisting them with their beauty needs. Cosmetologists shampoo, cut, perm, color and style hair. They may also provide manicures and pedicures or apply acrylic or gel nails.

Subjects of study include:

  • Orientation and TCC Rules and Regulations
  • Shampooing and Related Theory
  • Hair and Scalp Treatments
  • Cold Wave
  • Chemical Hair Relaxing
  • Hair Coloring
  • Manicuring
  • Facials
  • Haircutting and Styling
  • Chemistry
  • Salon Management and Practices

Manicurist
600 Hours / 25 Weeks

One of the largest areas of growth in the beauty industry is nail care. Properly trained and licensed manicurists are in demand. Our Manicurist program offers the student both the theory and practical skills necessary to meet the state licensing requirements. Students will learn about and be able to perform manicures, pedicures, acrylics, gels, tips, polish, chemicals, art and more.

Subjects of study include:

  • Orientation and TCC Rules and Regulations
  • Preparation, Equipment, Implements and Supplies
  • Procedures
  • Arms and Hands
  • Bacteriology, Sanitation and Safety Measures
  • Professional Practices

Instructor
750 Hours / 25 Weeks

The Instructor course is designed to prepare the licensed cosmetologist for licensure and employment as an instructor of cosmetology as prescribed by Texas state law.

Subjects of study include:

  • Orientation
  • Instruction and Theory, Lab/Clinic Operation
  • Teaching and Lab/Clinic Management
