College History and
Goals
American Academy of Cosmetology campus was
opened June of 2005 in Manhattan, Kansas.
The beautiful 20,000 square foot facility
offers state-of-the-art equipment in addition
to the large and spacious classrooms. As a
private cosmetology college, we offer our
students the educational advantages needed
to ensure mutual success. Courses include
cosmetology, esthetics and nail technology.
We have held true to our philosophy of professionalism
and service to others while allowing each
student to realize their full earning and
production potential. We seek to provide
the cosmetology industry with graduates
who are a credit to their college, their
employer and the cosmetology profession.
Cosmetology
is a field that offers many different career
opportunities. Our curriculum is designed
not only to achieve the technical skills necessary
in the cosmetology field but to make our students
aware of the part they play in the service
to others and to be sensitive and professional
to their clients.
Cosmetology
Each student admitted to the college receives
individual instruction in technical skills,
professional services, business and job-related
information.
Each student also participates in closely-supervised
cosmetology services while apprenticing
in the clinic. Each unit of study offered
by the school is designed to provide a broad
base to maximize the employability of its
graduates.
Additional Objectives of the program are:
- To develop technical abilities to the
highest level of each student.
- To develop professional qualities within
each student.
- To counsel each student in the variety
of opportunities within the field.
- To introduce and teach the techniques
involved in the latest products, equipment,
and styling trends.
- To fulfill all requirements of the Kansas
State Board of Cosmetology.
- To provide continuous improvement in
all our college educational programs.
Pivot
Point
We are proud to announce that we are a Pivot
Point Member School. Award-winning designer,
Leo Passage, created the curriculum for Pivot
Point schools around his distinct learning
philosophy. Pivot Point's "Scientific Approach"
is a marriage of art and science with its
roots in an architectural theory called Bauhaus.
This Scientific Approach teaches you to become
a designer, not just a hairdresser. And there
is a difference. A designer not only knows
the how's of cosmetology, but also the why's.
These why's are based on a belief that hair
design is an artistic expression with its
roots in the basic elements of form, texture
and color - just like the fundamental principles
of art.
