The School
Arthur's Beauty College's fine reputation of educating students in the central Arkansas area. Arthur's has over 7200 sq. ft. of floor space and a large parking lot that will accommodate 100 vehicles. Our teaching methods are designed to ensure our students are well trained in their course of study and for the Arkansas State Board Exam. Student stylists and nail technicians work under the direct supervision of licensed instructors, to perform various beauty services for the public. Arthur's has a large classroom with a blackboard, overhead projector, student reference library, demonstration stations, a television, vcr and video library.

Cosmetology
Cosmetology is the study of all phases of the art and science, related to good grooming. Your training in cosmetology will be as follows:

Hygiene and sanitation - 80 hours - include classes and instruction on bacteriology, sterilization and sanitation.

Related Science - 120 hours- Studies to include chemistry, electricity and properties of the hair and scalp.

Manicuring - 100 hours - Training in manicuring and pedicuring and the study of the nail and its disorders.

Hairdressing - 1000 hours - this portion of your training will include instruction in wet hairstyling, fingerwaving, haircutting, perming, haircoloring, brushing, dressing, curling, waving, cleansing, shampooing, trimming, bleaching, tinting, dyeing, straightening, relaxing or similarly treating a wig, wiglet or hairpiece made of human hair, animal hair or synthetics.

Cosmetic therapy - 100 hours - you will be taught the way to remove unwanted hair, how to properly apply makeup, facials, and the theory of massage, cleansing, stimulating, toning, manipulating or exercising the skin of the human body by the use of cosmetic preparations, tonics, lotions, creams, antiseptics, or clays or any device, electrical or otherwise, for the care of the skin.

Salesmanship and Shop Management - 50 hours - instruction on opening and operating a salon, product knowledge, selling, how to do payroll, ect.

Shop Department - 50 hours - instruction on effective communication, your professional image, how to fill out a job application and writing a resume. To graduate and qualify for the exam for Cosmetology you must meet the following requirements:

  • Accrue 1500 hours. the hours must be documented, legal hours of training in the correct areas, required by the State of Arkansas.
  • A minimum of 1 hour of theory for every 8 hours accrued.
  • Registration and certification of hours.
  • Account and final papers must be in order.

Manicurist
Description Manicuring is a specialized art and science pertaining to nail care. Due to more and more women entering the work force, nail care is no longer considered a luxury, it is a beauty necessity. Today's market demands that a manicurist be specialized in manicuring, pedicuring, artificial nails and hygiene related to this profession.You will be instructed in all facets of these,in order to pass the State Board exam and obtain a license to practice in this field. Your training will include the following: Health and Sanitation - 75 hours - instruction in sanitation and hygiene.

Related Science - 75 hours - studies include anatomy and physiology, the nail and its disorders, the skin and its disorders and client consultation.

Manicuring and Pedicuring - 200 hours -manicuring pedicuring and the art of hand, arm and foot massage.

Advanced Nail Technology - 200 hours - instruction in nail tips, nail wraps, and acrylic nails.

Career Development - 50 hours - instruction in salon business and selling techniques. To graduate and qualify for the exam for Manicuring, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Accrue 600 hours. The hours must be documented, legal hours of training in the correct areas, required by the State of Arkansas.
  • A minimum of 1 hour of theory for every 8 hours accrued.
  • Registration and certification of hours.
  • Account and final papers must be in order.

Cosmetology Instructor
Description This training and license will qualify you to teach all phases of cosmetology. There is a need in the field of cosmetology to meet the never ending demand for well trained Cosmetology Instructors. As an Instructor trainee, you will study:

Preparatory Training - 50 hours - this includes selection subject matter for lectures, preparing a demonstration, teaching through a demonstration, teaching a prepared plan ect. Class Attendance - 100

Conducting Theory Class - 50 hours - conducting practical cosmetology classes, this includes explaining the course outline and its objectives, using video for class review, classroom management ect.

Conducting Practical Cosmetology Class - 300 hours - you will be on the clinic floor practice teaching throughout your tenure at Arthur's.

Method of Keeping Student Records - 10 hours -this will include training in record keeping and figuring grades, recording time sheets, enrolling students, ect. Individual Training Practical Cosmetology - 90 hours Teaching and learning principles, professional conduct, laws, rules, and regulations.

To graduate and qualify for the exam for Cosmetology Instructor, you must meet the following requirements.

  • Accrue 600 hours. The hours must be documented, clock hours of training in the correct areas, required by the State of Arkansas.
  • Registration and certification of hours.
  • Account and final papers must be in order, complete final evaluation in teaching skills and Board preparation.
