Bradenton Beauty and Barber Academy, Inc. was founded in 1953 and has been in continuous operation since that time. We offer exceptional training in Cosmetology, Barbering, Nail Technology and Esthetics/Skin Care specialties by progressive teachers who give you that Educational Edge. Our school has recently been expanded and renovated to offer you a state of the art environment in which to learn and allow your creativity to flow.

Financial Aid
Financial Aid & Time Payment Plans Title IV Funds (Pell Grants and Direct Loans), Sallie Mae loans and Time Payment Plans are available to students who qualify.

Our Programs
Cosmetology Program

The objective of this program is to prepare the student to pass the State Board exams in both Cosmetology and Barbering, and to train men and women for employment and success in these fields.

Curriculum Includes:
Florida Law, Hair Coloring & Bleaching, AIDS 101, Chemistry, Sanitation, Shampoo & Scalp Treatments, Hair Styling & shaping, (tapers, beard trimming, history, shaves & moustaches included) Permanent Waving Properties of Hair & Scalp (HTTM) and Chemical Relaxing, Manicures, Pedicures, Extensions, Skin Care, Facials, Salon and Shop Management, Ethics & Salon Retailing.

Barbering Program
The Barbering Program instructs and teaches students about Florida Law, HIV/AIDS 101, Sanitation, Facials, Skin Analysis, scalp and hair analysis and treatments, all types of hair coloring from temporary to permanent and bleaching and toning, hair shaping including men's and women's hair pieces, beard and moustache trimming, shaving, history of barbering, permanent waving and chemical relaxing, hair pressing and all types of hair styling for men and women, shop management and how to seek and gain employment. Barbering students have the option to take Manicuring and Pedicuring classes if he/she so desires.

Facial Specialist Program
The facial specialist program concentrates on the care of the skin and the different techniques used in areas of skin care & make-up. This program is designed for the student who wishes to specialize in skin care and make-up application.

The objective of this class is to prepare the student to become a skin care and makeup artist, to follow proper safety and sanitation procedures and to successfully complete the State Board and school requirements to become eligible for registration with the State Board of Cosmetology (DPBR).

Curriculum Includes:
Florida Law, AIDS 101, Sanitation, Bacteriology, Ethics & Salon Management, Skin Care & Make-up (Theory & Practical).

Manicure Specialist Program
Our objective at Bradenton Beauty and Barber Academy is to teach, instruct and develop the theory of nail extensions, nail wraps, disorders and diseases, to identify chemicals and products and their uses as well as nail care safety and sanitation procedures. To successfully complete State Board and school requirements which leads to certification of eligibility and registration with the Florida Board of Cosmetology (DBPR).

Curriculum Includes:
Florida Law, Artificial Nail Removal, AIDS 101, Manicures, Sanitation, Bacteriology, Pedicures, Ethics, Shop Management, Tips with Overlay Nail Theory & All Related Subjects, Sculpting Using a Form Nail Capping, Nail Wraps and/or Mending, Polishing & Nail Art.

Full Specialist Program
The Full Specialist Program combines the Facial Specialist and the Manicure Specialist Programs and prepares the student for a successful career in this specialty area of skin care, manicuring, pedicuring, nail extensions, skin analysis, make-up, hair removal, and safety and sanitation procedures. The student is also prepared to meet the Florida State Board requirements for eligibility and registration with the DBPR.

Teacher Training Program
Teaching requires more direction than doing, more patience, understanding, fairness, firmness, friendliness and the ability to use good judgment.

Curriculum Includes:
Psychology of Learning, Methods of Teaching, Motivational Devices, Use and Preparation of Audio Visuals, Record Keeping, Lesson Planning, Testing, Classroom Management, Florida Law & Sanitation (includes AIDS 101), and give Classroom Presentations (under supervision of instructor).
