Carson City Beauty Academy is working on its 21st year of providing distinguished Cosmetology, Aesthetician, and Manicuring education. Privately owned and operated we are dedicated to excellence in education. Our goal is to provide a professional environment strong in academic and practical learning opportunities.

Accredited by National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences we have Financial Aid including Pell grants, Direct Loans and Parent Plus Loans available to those who qualify. We also have a no interest payment plan, allowing you to pay as you go. Please request information for details.

Our objective is to create a well rounded professional in the field of cosmetology. Carson City Beauty Academy will teach you the tools you need to pass your Nevada State Board written and practical exam. Our students leave our academy with the skills and ability to be successful in the field of Cosmetology.

Education
Our education begins in the Freshman room where the students have individual as well as group instruction. This classroom is separate from our clinic floor to provide an atmosphere of focused learning for the beginning student. During the Freshman hours students receive both demonstration and lecture and are given plenty of opportunity to practice. Students have time for questions and one-on-one instruction.

Students enrolled in any of the Academy's Cosmetology programs will learn more than the basics. Our instructors educate students on advanced techniques in all fields of Cosmetology. Advanced education in Hair, Skin, and Nails are incorporated everyday in our active clinic floor.

Once eligible to work on the public under instructor supervision, our students have a great opportunity to work with clientele daily. Our Academy has a reputation in the community as the place to go for great service and professional work. This provides the student maximum opportunity to do work on live clients, rather than only on doll heads, hands etc.

We also focus on the importance of State Board curriculum. Our staff is current on policy set by the Nevada State Board of Cosmetology and the Testing Center. Our pass rate at the State Board of Cosmetology written and practical exams for the year 2007-2008 was 97%. We know that this is the first step to being successful in the working world.

We also network with representatives of current lines of product for example Goldwell, KMS, OPI, and VIA in order to bring cutting edge education to our students.

Licensed Cosmetology graduates can chose from a wide variety of professional and lucrative careers including:

• Hair Coloring Specialist: Stylist with the natural ability for coordinating correct hair color with skin tone, and Make-up. This specialist is in demand since this is the leading source of income in the salon.
• Make-up Artist: Specializes in make-up technique
• Aesthetician: Specializes in Facials, make-up, waxing etc.
• Manicurist: Specializes in the beautification of nail
• Platform Artists: Featured stylist for color, cutting, etc in conventions, schools and salons
• Salon Manager: Responsible for staff and cliental in the salon.
• Salon Owner: As a licensed cosmetologist you have the ability to own and operate a full service salon.
• Salon Operator: Licensed Cosmetologist who performs services in a salon

Admission Requirements
The academy accepts regular students who have a diploma from High School, a G.E.D. or passed the Ability to Benefit Test (ATB). You must be 16 years of age.

Licensing Requirements
To be licensed in the State of Nevada you must have completed the required number of hours in the course prescribed. You must be 18 years of age by the time you are eligible to take the exam. You must also have proof of at least a 10th grade education.
