I made an appointment to go and get me and my daughter both manicure and a pedicure. I signed in we sat and waited for almost an hour no one came to say anything to us. I went to the front and was told the person that was scheduled to do the service is still doing hair, and they are going to find someone else to do it instead. Again no one said anything or acknowledge I was there.

My name is Makayla Robinson and I used to have fond memories of coming to beauty schools when I was younger as at the time it was a cheaper alternative to getting my hair down else where. I came here to get my hair done a couple months back and had one of the most horrifying hair experiences of my life. I was a little hesitant with the stylist at first as she was not the same race as me, but I am of the belief that everyone can do hair if taught properly. I had asked the young lady if she had done black woman’s hair before and she responded saying “yes but none as long as yours”. Right then and there I should’ve left but I was trying to be optimistic. She gave me a deep conditioning treatment which was odd to me as usually the deep conditioning comes after the hair is washed but in this instance it was before. After the deep conditioning treatment I had my hair “washed” now I say washed in quotation marks as she washed the surface or outside of my hair and not my actual scalp. When it came time to blow dry my scalp was still white and had build up. At which point I was blamed for having a scalp condition when truthfully the stylist didn’t wash my hair properly. After the teacher comes to try to assist which she actually washes my scalp. We come back to the chair and she proceeds to try to detangle my hair. She’s again doing the outside of my hair and not touching the roots at all. I informed her that she should try to go in sections and she responded with “I am”. She clearly was not as my hair was practically half dry and she’s still trying to get through the rest of my hair. Then the teacher comes over to help her as it is taking a bit of time. She combs my hair out so roughly that i lose a considerable amount of hair. I am saying this all now while looking at my hair now that has a great amount of breakage and thinning in some spots. She blow drys then straightens my hair. When getting up from the chair it looked like I had received a blow out. I am extremely disappointed from this experience. If these are the teachers you have there, you should hire new ones. I’d advise anyone especially woman of color to not come here ever, they do not know how to treat our hair with the care it deserves.
