The IBS School of Cosmetology Advantage
The benefits of the "competency" based program that we offer includes;

• It is possible to complete the "competency" based program in a shorter time, typically 2/3 the time of an "hourly" based program, if one is committed to moving through the program. There is no substantial difference in instruction time between the "hourly" and "competency" formats. What differs is the amount of time that is required on the clinic floor performing services. The "competency" format permits a student to choose to spend more or less time on the clinic floor depending on the perceived skill level of a student;
• The tuition for a "competency" based program typically tends to run 40% less than an "hourly" based program;
• A "competency" based program provides a much more flexible schedule than an "hourly" based program; and
• The instruction is given at a certain point during the day and this is followed by supervised hands on experience. So there is some flexibility in tailoring a portion of the instruction, the practical time, to an individual's schedule.

Our Facility
We have charmingly restored our facility to compliment our instruction and have designed our school similar to a contemporary salon. We have incorporated modern equipment into the facility so that students practice in an environment that mirrors the salon experience. In addition, we use some of the industries best back bar products (i.e. color, shampoo, conditioners and styling products) to further recreate the experience of a salon.
