What We Offer PROFESSIONAL TRAINING The road to a profession in cosmetology usually begins in a school like the James Albert School of Cosmetology. Cosmetology programs usually last six months to one year, depending on the number of training hours. In addition to training, students must pass a state licensing examination to become licensed cosmetologists.
LICENSED COSMETOLOGISTS/ESTHETICIANS ARE IN DEMAND As the job market stands today, the demand is very high. Due to the many advents of day spas and newer technology, you have chosen a career that is both demanding and rewarding.
A REWARDING CAREER The field is not an easy profession in which to begin, and success is tied directly to developing a steady clientele. This, in turn, depends on technical skills, experience, a sense of how to deal with clients, and a personal style. Even well trained graduates find the first year difficult financially, but for those who settle into the profession, cosmetology can be a long and economically rewarding career.
Programs Offered Cosmetology Course The basic cosmetology program includes lecture, demonstration, classroom participation and examination on many subjects. Technical Instruction consists of demonstrations, lecture, classroom participation or examination. Practical Operation consists of actual performance by the student of a complete service on another person or mannequin.
Esthetician Course The basic Cosmetician/Esthetician course consists of lecture, demonstration, classroom participation and examination. This is a very fast growing field. In an age of specialization, Estheticians have many opportunities after graduation. Some are: make-up artists for photographers or theater productions, work full or part time at a salon or day spa, work in para-medical office of Dermatologists or Plastic Surgeons just to name a few. Technical Instruction consists of demonstrations, lecture, classroom participation or examination. Practical Operation consists of actual performance by the student of a complete service on another person or mannequin.
Make Up Artist Training The curriculum for students enrolled in a Make-Up Artist course course shall consist of one hundred (100) clock hours of technical instruction and practical operations covering all practices of a Make-Up Artistry. For the purpose of this section, technical instruction shall mean instruction by demonstration, lecture, classroom participation or examination. Practical operation shall mean the actual performance by the student of a complete service on another person. Please note 100 hours will be devoted to clinic/theory experience which shall include all phases of being a Make-Up Artist.
