Program
Objective
The cosmetology program is designed to provide
competency-based knowledge, scientific/art
principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated
with the cosmetology industry.
McCann's advanced approach provides a simulated
salon environment which enables students
to develop manipulative skills and knowledge
that can lead to an entry-level career in
the field of Cosmetology. Upon completion
of the program, the student will be prepared
to take the Pennsylvania State Board licensing
examination.
Employment opportunities may include beauty
salon spas, and other related businesses
as a stylist, salon manager or owner, color
specialist, educator, platform or makeup
artist, manufacturer's representative, cosmetic
salesperson, and more.
Skin Care Program
Program
Objective
The program objective is to give the student
the knowledge necessary to develop manipulative
skills for entry-level into the skin care
profession and to help prepare graduates
to qualify to sit for the Pennsylvania State
Board licensing examination.
Course work includes instruction in professional
development, bacteriology, sanitation, and
disinfection, skin structure, diseases and
disorders, facials, aromatherapy, body treatments,
microdermabrasion, various phases of skin
care technology, business/computer principles,
product knowledge, and other selected topics.
Upon successful completion of the Pennsylvania
State Board licensing exam, graduates will
be issued a license by the Pennsylvania
State Board. Employment opportunities may
include beauty salons, spas, dermatology
offices and other related businesses as
a skin care specialist, educator, platform
artist, manufacturer's representative, facial
product salesperson, and more.

Additional requirements include the following:
- English Composition I
- English Composition II
- Oral Communication
- General Psychology
- College Mathematics
Full-time students earning an average of
16 credit hours per term may complete this
program in six consecutive terms or approximately
eighteen months. The length of time required
to complete the program as a part-time student
will vary depending upon the number of credits
earned each term.
