Mister Wayne's Beauty and Barber School
was established in December, 1979, at its
present location in Willow Tree Shopping
Center. Wayne and Melissa Fletcher are the
sole owners. Our modern school facility
includes leading edge equipment and instructional
tools in all phases of the beauty/barber
industry. The average enrollment per class
is 15-20 students.
Since the organization of Mister Wayne's,
many graduates have made successful careers
for themselves in all areas of the country.
We currently hold a 100% student pass rate.
The school has grown substantially since
1979 and has become an important part of
the community.
School Philosophy
The Beauty and Barber program is designed
to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/art
principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated
with the Beauty industry. Mister Wayne's
advanced approach provides a simulated salon
environment which enables students to develop
manipulative skills and knowledge that can
lead to an entry-level career in the field
of Beauty and Barber.
Upon completion of the program, the student
will be prepared to take the Tennessee State
Board licensing examination. Employment
opportunities may include beauty salon,
spas, and other related businesses as a
master stylist, salon manager or owner,
color specialist, skin or nail specialist,
educator, platform or makeup artist, manufacturer's
representative, cosmetic salesperson, and
more.
Curriculum
The following is included when you apply
for a certificate of registration as a Master
Stylist:
- Shampooing and rinses
- Haircutting (male and female)
- Hairstyling
- Hair coloring, bleaching and toning
- Permanent waving
- Facials and make-up
- Manicures
- Hairpiece fitting
- Hair relaxer
- Theory of massage, facial treatment
and skin care
- Disorders of the skin, scalp and hair
- Chemical theory (perming, waxing, hair
coloring, bleaching, and straightening)
- Anatomy, physiology, and systems: structure
of the head, face and neck: including
muscles and nerves History and fundamentals
of barbering
- Elementary chemistry relating to sterilization,
sanitation, bacteriology and hygiene
- Barber and Beauty implements
- Business management and salesmanship
- Preparation for seeking employment
