As the world changes and the need for increased
cosmetic skills grows dramatically, the
demand for trained cosmetologists becomes
even more acute. The Beauty and Cosmetology
communities across the country are developing
or expanding their services and creating
new and exciting career opportunities for
individuals prepared to meet this challenge.
North Florida Institute trains qualified
individuals to meet these growing needs.
The Institute offers learning experiences
in a concentrated time frame and provides
the environment for advancement into the
Cosmetology Arts and Sciences.
North Florida Institute endeavors to:
- Meet regional needs for qualified cosmetology
professionals and to provide the rapidly
growing community with competent personnel
trained in the Cosmetology Arts and Sciences.
- Provide a mechanism whereby qualified
individuals may pursue technical training,
without jeopardizing existing economic
responsibilities, and pursue vertical
career advancement through programs that
provide career mobility.
- Serve the community as a whole by developing
and offering additional training programs
as career opportunities are identified
both locally and/or regionally.
Aesthetics / Skincare
Diploma
The Aesthetics Skincare program provides
students training in the traditional holistic
approach to skin care and includes additional
training in the areas of make up and color
analysis, mask and spa therapies, hair removal,
enzyme treatments, pressure points massage,
body wrapping, Microdermabrasion and hot
stone treatments. Students are introduced
to medical pharmaceutical product protocols
and will learn the principles of effective
retailing and general business development
as it relates to the practice of the skincare
professional. Graduates from the program
will demonstrate a basic and advanced understanding
of the structure and function of the skin
and how to apply skin care treatments through
the effective utilization of product and
equipment protocols.
The Aesthetics Skincare Program prepares
students for registration in the state of
Florida as a registered facial specialist
and certification in body wrapping. The
registered graduate is qualified for entry-level
employment as a registered facial specialist
with training critical for employment opportunities
in resort spas and medical facilities. The
graduate can demonstrate communication and
employability skills and can apply professional
and appropriate ethics to all areas of the
job.
Career Services
It is North Florida Institute`s
intention to offer effective job search
assistance service to all students as they
approach graduation. North Florida Institute
has developed a program designed to assist
a person in securing employment within his/her
field of study. Services of the department
include career preparation activities for
current students, outreach to prospective
employers in the community and follow-up
with graduates.
North Florida Institute does not guarantee
employment to anyone nor does it guarantee
employment opportunities in any geographic
area or employment at a specific starting
wage. It is the intent of North Florida
Institute to make reasonable good-faith
efforts to assist graduates with securing
employment in the field for which they have
been trained.
Students
attending North Florida Institute are required
to participate in all career preparation
activities and submit necessary documentation
as part of their graduation requirements.
Recent graduate and students approaching
graduation receive first priority for job
search assistance services. Part-time job
search assistance (unrelated to the career
field) is available to current students
who are making satisfactory progress. Students
desiring this service should contact the
Career Services Department for information.
Financial Assistance
The purpose of financial assistance is to
aid those students in financial need who
are seeking post-secondary education. A
person who wishes to apply for financial
assistance must meet all eligibility requirements.
Application for financial assistance does
not guarantee eligibility.
Student Application for Federal Title IV
Funds requires the applicant:
- Must be enrolled as a student at an
eligible institution in an eligible program.
- Must not be in default on a federal
student loan or owe a repayment on a previously
awarded federal grant.
- Meet all requirements established by
the US Department of Education.
- Must meet all requirements for satisfactory
progress.
- Must provide all documentation requested
by the Finance Officer.
