Northwest College has three campuses, making
it possible for anyone in Portland and the

Course Options
Clock Hour or Competency
There are two pathways to licensing in Oregon
- At NWC, we are proud to offer both: One
is a traditional clock-hour program and
the other is a competency-based program.
In traditional Clock-Hour programs students
must complete the state required clock-hours.
Attendance is required for those hours and
schedules may vary so the time to complete
varies accordingly. Financial Aid is available
to those who qualify. Our Financial Aid
Administrator will assist students with
the process of planning and applying for
federal financial aid. Northwest College
also has payment plan(s). To meet the schedule
demands of our students, a variety of schedules
are available for each of our locations.
Competency-based training refers to the
outcome of the education rather than the
methodology. The outcome is being able to
either perform a task or recall and apply
knowledge at a specific level or competency.
Competency skills are developed by performing
the skills taught in class on live models,
clients, or mannequins. Practical and academic
testing occurs at regular intervals.
Note: Competency based programs are not
currently eligible for federal financial
aid. Registered students may request a payment
plan(s) or contact Key Bank for alternative
financing.
