East Bay Campus
Paul Mitchell the School - East Bay is located in San Francisco's East Bay area. East Bay is a mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly city that combines small-town charm with big-city fun. Our 12,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art campus occupies prime real estate in the newly renovated downtown district, with free parking in an attached three-story garage and plenty of affordable housing nearby.

A ten-minute drive takes you to trendy Walnut Creek, where upscale malls, restaurants, and cafes make this city the commercial and entertainment hub for the region. In an hour or less, you can be strolling the streets of Sacramento, enjoying the view from one of Sausalito's waterfront cafes, strolling through Napa Valley's beautiful vineyards, checking out the college scene in nearby Berkeley, and sunbathing on Stinson Beach or hiking up Mt. Tam in beautiful Marin County.

An easy trip by ferry, car, or the BART (as locals call the Bay Area Rapid Transit) takes you to San Francisco and its famous landmarks, including Alcatraz Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, and Ghirardelli Square. The fitness-friendly City by the Bay features more than 200 miles of bicycle lanes, popular in-line skating sites, and endless water sports in the bay.

Paul Mitchell The School’s instructors—we call them “Learning Leaders”—are trained to draw out the artist in you and then prepare you to compete in the real world. Rather than concentrate only on the basic training needed to pass state licensing board exams, every Paul Mitchell School provides you with a well-rounded lifestyle education. Our experienced staff is specially trained to help you explore all your creative and professional possibilities. Our talented Learning Leaders provide extensive hands-on and classroom training in the program you choose.

BASIC COSMETOLOGY
Our basic cosmetology program features design, cutting, coloring, multicultural techniques, makeup, fashion trends, and the art of hairdressing in a three-phase program we call CORE, ADAPTIVE, and CREATIVE.

CORE – Learn the rules! In this introductory course, you’ll learn the basics that will let you confidently begin working on guests, and your Learning Leaders will help you blend professional skills with personal development.

ADAPTIVE – Bend the rules! Building on the skills you learned in CORE, this intermediate level teaches the value of time management, retailing, and the art of successful communication.

CREATIVE – Break the rules! This final phase takes you through advanced hairdressing and chemical work. During your last months and weeks toward graduation, you’ll spend your time in high gear, preparing yourself for your future salon career.
