I felt that the girl doing my hair lacked experience and knowledge, happy I went with just a blowout and conditioning treatment even though I was originally booked for color. I feel bad for her and the other students. Looking around several students seemed to be struggling.

For guest services, be wary and don't use their online form to reserve your time but good luck trying to talk to someone over the phone. Attempted to reserve a 12:45pm appt one day in advance with their online form and got a welcome email and separate confirmation page on Chrome. Show up to check in and they don't have me in their schedule and no availability for around the time their confirmation page informed me. I even tried to call them after making the appointment the day before because nowhere in the form or confirmation page did it give the actual street address (only "Paul Mitchell... of Sacramento, city, zip - no street number) and the form makes you put in two distinct phone numbers - not many of us in 2024 are paying for an additional landline.
Front desk personnel was trying very hard - issue was not her fault and I appreciate her trying to set it right. She knew the system, was very courteous, and attempted to give options later on but didn't work with my schedule.
First and last experience with the school guest services.

I called in at 1:40 PM, nearly crying since I had my mom do my hair and she messed up it up and I needed an appointment the same day if at all possible. The lady over the phone was real nice, and got me an appointment to be seen at 6 PM for a color correction. I got there at 6 PM (be careful when driving in, there can be a car pile up trying to simply park which was a nightmare itself), and I think I got seated around 6:15 or so. I explained I wanted the brown lowlights taken out of my hair, be it lightened, colored, however, just get the brown lowlights out of my hair, as I’m trying to get my hair to be lighter in color. My stylist whom I had a really nice time talking to with personally, and I did enjoy the social engagement with her and another stylist who helped out as she had the free time and no client, was not suited to do my hair. I honestly enjoyed having her as a stylist to talk to, as past stylists it’s been mainly quiet and awkward, and she really did listen and try to help answer questions and concerns about my hair, and even tried to get my hair right, but she had never done highlights on blonde hair before, doing sections, and she needed help from the other stylist. She needed to be shown how to get the foils right with the highlighting. She repeatedly said she didn’t know how to do this. I was starting to panic, I was leaving on a trip in 12 hours, and I needed my hair fixed.
After sitting in the chair for 3 hours, I finally went to get my hair rinsed out from the bleach. Then around 9:30 PM ish, I was told I needed to pay, even though I wasn’t done with my hair yet. I didn’t think anything was the matter, so I paid and was happy to do it, given all the hard work and time my stylist and her friend had put in my hair.
Then when I walked back to my spot and looked in the mirror, I could see a straight divide of one side being more bleached than the other. I told her and she got her teacher, who agreed that it was more processed than the other side. After blow-drying it wasn’t as pronounced, but upon my hair being dried, I found more than 3 chunks of brown lowlights still in my hair. I paid almost $50, have been there for nearly 4 hours, and didn’t get the one thing I asked to get taken care of.
I was told since I came in at 6 PM and there were limited stylists left at that time to do the work…yet while I was there were stylists available, or finished with their clients earlier. They came up to observe what my stylist was doing to my hair. They had time to watch what was being done to my hair.
Everything was done by 9:55 PM, and I wish I could have been happier with the job. The right side of my hair looks great, there was definitely care and time put into it, but the left side got forgotten about. I asked my boyfriend for an honest opinion and he could tell that one side looks different than the other.
I really want to rate a higher star, I know my stylist did the best she could with what she knew, and I think she’ll do great with more training, but given the circumstances I wish I was given to someone who had experience, especially since I called in for an emergency day-of appointment. Now I have to figure out how to get my hair fixed while on vacation and on a budget. I just wish I wasn’t the guinea pig.
