Cosmetology
A New Jersey State approved Cosmetology
Course that offers training in hair design,
nail design and skin care.
As
a premiere Pivot Point School, PB Cosmetology
Education Centre specializes in the scientific
approach to hair design. Curriculum is enhanced
with guest artists and field trips. In addition
to the development of technical skills,
students are trained to be salon-ready through
a program teaching salon professionalism,
self-marketing and client relations. Students
spend their last 600 hours training in PB's
full-service Student Salon.
Nail Design
New Jersey State approved Nail
Technician Course that offers training in
manicures, pedicures, artificial nails,
nail art, spa services and facial waxing.
PB offers the most comprehensive nail technician
course in the state, where students spend
their last 200 hours working on clients
in the Nail Design Studio to enhance and
perfect their technique. Specialized guest
artists supplement curricular topics.
Careers as nail technicians offer flexible
work schedules, pleasant working conditions,
and the opportunity to meet and service
new people. Since people view nail services
as a necessity not a luxury, licensed nail
technicians have a bright career outlook
Skin
Care
A New Jersey State approved Skin Care Specialty
course that offers training in skin analysis,
facials, body procedures, hair removal and
make-up artistry.
PB offers an intimate learning environment
where students get advanced, hands-on training
using top of the line professional products.
The school has a fully equipped Skin Care
Studio complete with a professional library
of material, concentrating on medical aesthetics,
reflexology and aromatherapy. Students will
have a variety of employment opportunities
ranging from salons and spas, Doctor's offices,
theaters, product sales demonstration, health
and wellness centers, and positions as make-up
artists.
Teacher Training
The pre-requisites for enrollment in this
course include a Cosmetology license and
a record of success as a practicing cosmetologist,
aesthetician, or manicurist. Acceptance
into this course is competitive. Students
must submit a resume and cover letter to
the School Director and complete a personal
interview. Applicants may also be asked
to develop a mock lesson for the School
Director. Additional information on becoming
a licensed teacher may be obtained by contacting
the Career Development Office.
Requirements for the program are:
- Current New Jersey Beautician or Cosmetologist/Hairstyling
License.
- High School Diploma or G. E. D. Certificate.
- Letter from employer to verify 6 months
prior experience as a Cosmetologist/Hairstylist
or to verify that applicant will have
been employed at least 6 months by the
time the teacher training course is completed.
Letter must be notarized.
- Completed New Jersey Board Registration
Form (provided by the school.)
Admissions
PB Cosmetology Education Centre
accepts as students only those applicants
with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Students must be at least 17 years of age.
All interested applicants must schedule
an admissions interview and tour of our
facility with an Admissions Representative
from our Career Development Office.
Students must commit to the posted schedule
of the course that he or she is enrolling
in. No flex schedule or combination of day
and night scheduling is permitted. Upon
enrollment, Cosmetology, Manicuring, and
Skin Care students are asked to provide:
- Birth Certificate or NJ Driver's License
- Two personal photographs
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
PB Cosmetology Education Centre will grant
credit to students for previous Cosmetology
hours with 400 or more hours of training
acquired in public, vocational, and technical
schools outside of a 50 mile radius of PB
School. Please contact the Career Development
Office for our complete Transfer Student
Policy. This policy applies to Cosmetology
students only. Transfers will not be accepted
into the Skin Care or Nail Design Programs
