Pruonto's Hair Design Institute was originated in 1963. In the school's years of history the keystone of its educational program has been, and remains today, "Quality". Our graduates have gone on to become successful operators, teachers, managers, nail technicians and owners in the field of Cosmetology. Graduates have been placed in a variety of job opportunities. Pruonto's is a member of the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Art and Sciences. This allows us to maintain very high standards throughout all of our curriculum.

Staff and Faculty
All of our instructors are thoroughly qualified to instruct and demonstrate the new techniques and styles of modern Cosmetology. All have had salon experience and are licensed by Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology.

Student Housing The school does provide a student housing list of the area, and is available upon request.

Programs
Cosmetology / Operators
Cosmetology is the study in the principles and practices in the areas of the hair, skin and nails. The course is developed to provide the student with a thorough understanding in maintaining and creating styles in these areas. In addition, the student will be trained to deal effectively with the demands of the general public. The course is 1250 hours in length and will amply prepare you for the State Board Exam.

The course consists of three areas of study for you to obtain the knowledge necessary to meet your goals. They are:

  1. Theory (Textbook Knowledge)
  2. Practical Teach The Course Coordination (Mannequin Work)
  3. Clinic Experience (Performing Services). Each area will coincide with the knowledge you acquire on a daily basis.

You will attend each area of study on a daily basis. However, you will not perform services until you have demonstrated your ability and not until you have reached 300 hours of study in the program. To further enhance your learning experience, you will see live demonstrations, audio-visual aids and outside guest artists along with many exciting and educational teaching methods by our knowledgeable staff.

Cosmetology / Manager Training
The course is developed to provide the student with a thorough understanding (in a 300 hour Salon Management Training Program) to prepare the cosmetologist to successfully manage his or her own, as well as any other, beauty salon. The student manager is trained in the many phases of Salon Management methods and situations, practical applications of "Hands-On" experience and classroom applications. Upon completion of the course, the student receives a diploma.

Cosmetology / Teacher Training

The course is developed to provide the student with a thorough understanding (in a 500 hour teacher training course) to teach the student teacher in methods of teaching and to work in the field as a cosmetology instructor. The student teacher is trained in the many phases of cosmetology teacher methods and situations, practical applications of "hands-on" teaching experience and classroom applications. This course prepares the student for the Pennsylvania State Board Instructor License. Upon school certification of completion of the required hours and upon payment of a fee, a Pennsylvania Instructor License is granted. The course length is approximately 4 months.

The course consists of three areas of study for you to obtain the knowledge necessary to meet your goals. They are:

  1. Theory (Textbook Knowledge)
  2. Student Teaching (lesson planning and course outline, testing and grading)
  3. Demonstrations. Each area will coincide with the knowledge you acquire on a daily basis.

You will attend each area of study on a daily basis. However, you will not perform services on the clinic floor. You will only assist student operators in their clinic performance.

Cosmetology / Manicuring Training
The course is developed to provide the student with a thorough understanding (in a 200 hour Manicurist Training Program) to prepare the Nail Technician to successfully manage his/her own Nail Salon. The student Manicurist is trained in the many phases of manicuring methods and situations, practical applications of "Hands-On" experience and classroom applications. This course prepares the student for the Pennsylvania State Board Manicuring License. Upon certification of completion of the required hours and upon payment of a fee, a Pennsylvania Manicurist License is granted.

The course consists of three areas of study for you to obtain the knowledge necessary to meet our goals. They are:

  1. Theory (Textbook Knowledge)
  2. Manicuring
  3. Artificial Nails

Each area will coincide with the knowledge you acquire on a daily basis.
