At the Stroudsburg School of Cosmetology we prepare our graduates to not only pass the state licensing examination, but to build personal confidence and become successful right from the start.
Our curriculum in each program is extensive and teaches up-to-date requirements, techniques and styles. All courses include extensive instruction and practical experience
Cosmetology Program Overview
Our basic cosmetology program features design, cutting, coloring, multicultural techniques, makeup, fashion trends, and the art of hairdressing in a three-phase program we call Freshman, Junior, and Senior.
FRESHMAN - In this introductory course, you'll learn the basics that will let you confidently begin working on guests, and your Instructors will help you blend professional skills with personal development.
JUNIOR - Building on the skills you learned in the Freshman phase, this intermediate level teaches the value of time management, retailing, and the art of successful communication.
SENIOR - This final phase takes you through advanced hairdressing and chemical work. During your last months and weeks toward graduation, you'll spend your time in high gear, preparing yourself for your future salon career.
Esthetics (Cosmetician) Program Overview
The Skin Care Program offers the state-required program for becoming a licensed skin therapist. Classes are held in a state-of-the-art facility that allows you to perfect your skills in realistic surroundings on real people.
The Skin Care Program's advanced training system focuses on personalized attention. This unique program brings a new depth of understanding and knowledge of classical professional techniques, such as international skin treatments, speed waxing, customized treatment protocols, skin analysis, ingredient technology, makeup techniques, and prescriptive retailing.
Instructor Training Program Overview
Our Instructor Training program gives qualified applicants the opportunity to learn how to instruct students to provide them with the beauty education to succeed. At the Stroudsburg School of Cosmetology, we train our Instructors value a strong teacher-student relationship.
The Instructor Training program includes training in classroom techniques for cosmetology including both theory and practical instruction. Student teachers will obtain actual experience in preparation of lesson plans and classroom presentation. Admission into the Instructor Training Program requires the following: You must be at least 17 years of age; you must possess a current Pennsylvania State Cosmetologist/Hairstylist license; and you must have a high school diploma or GED.
Nail Program Overview
Our Nail Program emphasizes employability in today's market by including training in sculptured nails, nail art, and silk wraps in addition to all phases of manicuring and pedicuring. The course length is 200 hours, which requires 6 weeks (2months) full-time or 10 weeks (3 Months) part time. An individual completing the Nail Program and passing the state board examination may be employed as a manicurist or nail technician in a licensed Cosmetology or Nail Salon or own and manage their own salon.
To enroll in the Cosmetology Program, Skin Care Program or Nail Program at the Stroudsburg School of Cosmetology, you must be at least l6 years of age and be a high school graduate with a diploma, or have a GED certificate. A limited number of secondary students will be accepted, subject to passing a pre-enrollment Ability to Benefit exam.
