About
Our School
Success Schools LLC was established in 2003
to provide state of the art training for
men and women in the art of barbering. The
staff draws from their collective 100 years
of experience to provide the finest training
in barbering in the state of Indiana. This
is the founder's second barber school.
We will accept Pell Grants, G.I. Bill, Vocational
Rehabilitation Grants, and student loans.
We have financial aid to those who qualify.
Housing is available within walking distance
to our school.
Our Mission
Our mission is to train men and women in
the art of barbering and to provide them
with the tools necessary to locate as well
as retain a job in the barber industry in
order to enjoy practicing the art.
Our Faculty
Success Schools LLC. Barber program is uniquely
fortunate in that all three faculty members
are also owners of the school. Each member
of the faculty has been trained by an outside
source to bring together the best of all
training. Each staff member schedules their
hours at the school as the need arises;
we do not have full and part time status.
Indiana State Rules and Regulations require
that there be one instructor for each 10
students. Success Schools far surpasses
the rule with either two or three instructors
present for 20 students or less.
The
Facility
The facility is housed in a 2000 square
feet commercial strip mall located on busy
route 30 in Merrillville, Indiana, offering
easy access to major highways and bus transportation.
Our 1000 square foot clinic features modern
state of the art barber shop equipment in
bright surroundings consisting of 20 barber
chairs, back bar units for 40 students and
a separate shampoo area with 4 European
style shampoo units. Students enjoy a brisk
diversified client base on which to practice
their art.
The separate private classroom boasts a
warm comfortable setting for adult learning.
Students learn at an easy pace through the
use of video and DVD as well as various
methods of teaching. We rely heavily upon
the lecture method of teaching with constant
feedback and weekly testing for evaluation.
We use overheads, white boards, and blackboards.
Demonstrations can be preformed in the classroom
or on the clinic floor.
School Information
The Indiana Barber
Program
The program is state licensed and requires
the equivelant of 9 or 10 months of full
time attendance and 18 months of part time.
The school is open Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday from 9:00am to 9:00pm and Friday
and Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. We offer
day and evening classes. Full time is 40
hours per week and part time is 20 hours
per week.
The typical day at the barber school begins
with a theory class using a text, workbook
and examination review book. The remainder
of the day is a clinic time whereby we cut,
color, and perm hair, we shave with a straight
razor, do facials and scalp conditioning
treatments, and manicures. We have an excellent
client base which benefits our students
in that they get practice in giving services.
We also have demonstrations throughout the
day to better acquaint our students with
the proper procedure on services.
Students begin the interview process 60
days before graduation and state testing.
Barbers are in demand across the state of
Indiana, we offer free placement service
and free continuing education after licensing.
Success Schools works closely with barbers
in the field to teach the skills owners
seek in new barbers.
Classes begin the first Tuesday of each
month.
Thanks again for your interest. Because
we are a small vocational school our classes
frequently fill up, to secure your space
come to the school and make an application
for enrollment immediately. We require you
visit the school prior to making application
to enroll.
