Today the field of cosmetology is more demanding than it has ever been. It is not enough to be "just a beautician", if you expect to be one of the leaders in your field. Styles and products are changing constantly and so are many of the methods you will be using in today's salons.

At Tiffin Academy of Hair Design, our system of training offers you an opportunity to learn the techniques of styling and cutting more thoroughly and more easily than any other method we know. Each step is shown in exact detail. You will learn every phase of hairstyling from the very beginning. Our training enables even those who have had little or no experience in the field of hair designing to become very efficient with basic techniques, as well as developing an artistic style of their own.

The overall mission of the Tiffin Academy of Hair Design is to provide an equal opportunity to anyone desiring a career in Managing Cosmetology or Managing Manicuring, by giving each student the very best training possible, teaching them the specific skills and related subjects necessary for them to succeed in the cosmetology or nail industry today, and tomorrow.

Programs offered at Tiffin
Managing Cosmetology
The objective of the Managing Cosmetology Course is to give the student a comprehensive understanding of cosmetology, which includes not only training in the care of the hair, skin and nails, but also general salon management and additional advanced cosmetology.

Upon completion of the Managing Cosmetology Course, the student will be able to successfully demonstrate the skills required to pass the Ohio State Board Manager's examination, as well as possess the skills and knowledge needed to successfully manage and operate a licensed salon, whether it be for the students themselves, as the owner/manager, or for someone else as an employee/manager.

Managing Manicurist
The objective of the Managing Manicurist Course is to give the student a comprehensive understanding of manicuring, artificial nail application and other necessary related skills, including salon management. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to successfully demonstrate the skills needed to pass the Ohio State Board Examination, as well as the professional skills that will be required of a managing manicurist in a licensed salon.

The course in Managing Manicuring here at the Academy includes training on conventional manicuring and pedicuring as well as sculptured nails, and nail tips with overlays. When the student has completed the basic training portion of the course, which involves theory and practice of basic manicuring and nail application, they will be allowed to begin performing nail services on clinic patrons. Students will continue to improve and refine their skills as they progress through the course. Management classes will also be incorporated throughout the course. Students will be expected to provide a minimum of five models on which to demonstrate nail applications and other nail services of various kinds, for skill evaluations.

The Academy Awards
The Ohio State Board of Cosmetology has given out Awards For Excellence only four times in its' history and the Tiffin Academy received them each time! The staff and students of the Academy are proud to have received those awards and are constantly working to maintain that level of success. Our Staff
The Director of the Academy is Therese Vogel. She also serves as the Financial Aid Administrator. She began in the field of cosmetology in 1983 and has attended many educational seminars throughout her career. Prior to owning the Academy, Ms. Vogel had been a member of the Instructional Staff, as well as a managing director, for a total of over 19 years.

Continuing education is very important too. Our entire staff participates in educational and technical seminars of different kinds as well as attending trade and technical shows throughout the year.

Extensive experience enables the staff at the Academy to be aware of the needs of today's students. This awareness involves not only the student's basic training needs, enabling them to pass their state board examination, but also more advanced techniques that will help them become successful in the salon marketplace.
