In the state of Arizona, beauty school students have the option to be licensed in cosmetology, aesthetics or nail technology. While cosmetology focuses on hair and nail technology on nails, aesthetics concentrates on skin care. Graduates of beauty schools in Arizona usually work in student salons and spas. Arizona beauty school students can learn in a classroom setting and many schools also have the opportunity to provide services to the public under the supervision of the cosmetology instructor in a student salon setting. Students are only permitted to accept pay for applying shampoo and cream rinse, combing hair and removing rollers and clips until they have completed 300 hours of training. After completing the required hours of instruction and clinical services, graduates can apply for licensing with the Arizona Board of Cosmetology.
