Skin care and beauty enhancement interest can now be turned into a career if you decide to become an esthetican. Esthetics schools in Colorado teach the elements of skin care and esthetics to prepare yourself to get licensed and begin working in the beauty business. It is a growing area of interest as more and more people focus on the importance of appearance, especially in an age-conscious society. There are many Colorado esthetics schools that offer combined classroom and clinical education. Training incorporates such basics as safety and sanitation and specialties such as therapeutic facials, body wraps, and even microdermabrasion. Colorado requires 600 hours of training to be completed, and then aspiring skin care specialists take a state-certified exam to become fully licensed. To keep up with the advancements in skin care treatments, tools and products, estheticians may also takecontinuing education classes to keep skills up-to-date and renew their licenses. After completion of training at one of the esthetician schools in Colorado, licensed skin care specialists can choose from among a variety of workplace settings. For some, the lure of the medical field is their calling. For example, skin care specialists could work in dermatology and plastic surgery offices, or some estheticians work in radiology clinics to help patients deal with skin trauma under the supervision of a doctor. Other skin care specialists who complete esthetics training in Colorado choose to work in non-medical settings. Jobs for estheticians are offered in beauty salons, spas, and even upscale resorts. The cosmetic industry also employs estheticians in various roles. Some work as product buyers, consultants or demonstrators because of their advanced knowledge of cosmetics and skin care products. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, skin care specialists can expect a faster than average job demand through 2020 at a rate of 25%. The median hourly wage for skin care specialists is above the national average at about $13.90 before tips.
