The exam will typically have a written portion that covers esthetics theory and technique, and will also include a practical portion to test your hands-on knowledge. While waiting to take and pass the exam, it is possible for you to receive a temporary license and work under the supervision of a licensed esthetics professional. Once you receive your professional esthetics licensure in Pennsylvania, your license must be displayed prominently for clients to see and you must renew it biannually.
