Dear Aveda: I’ve had many lovely opportunities to enjoy hair care at Aveda at Harvard and Pike in Seattle. This last visit was extraordinary, however. The student, Kassidy, and her instructor, Richard, provided services par excellence. My haircut, as usual, was wonderful; it looked simply great! This is no small thing... I have curly hair and get a dry cut (a little-known procedure, I think). But my service did not end with the cut. Not only did Kassidy treat me to a wonderful hand massage, but she also shared some new techniques she had learned. That’s not the best part, though. She did not assume I wanted the new technique; I made my own decision whether to select or decline it. She didn’t ‘force’ anything on me. I noticed with pleasure, also, a respectful relationship that existed between student and instructor. No orders were given. Instead of mandates, Richard offered options; he and Kassidy came to a common decision about a technique or product. I felt comfortable with that, too. In summary, my hair looked fabulous, we discussed my next appointment, and overall, I had a wonderful time. My comfort, well-being, and hair are in the best possible (and talented) hands at Aveda!
