I have been postponing this review because I have been there a few times, and it was not always bad. I also tried to talk to them when I had bad experiences, like they ask clients to, but they have ignored me for months now, and today was the last drop.
I understand it is a school, students are practicing, and appointments take a long time. This was never an issue for me. I have had good haircuts, and not so good haircuts, but it was fine.
My real problem started when I went there back in March 2025 to do an all over color. I was getting married in April 2025, and at the time I had highlights and wanted to go back to my natural color. I made an appointment at collective academy for an all over color. The girl was okay, the color was perfect. However, the instructor told her to use semi-permanent color. I explained I was not planning on going lighter any time soon, I just wanted to have my hair with the natural color for my wedding, which would be exactly one month later. I told all this to the student and the instructor. The student asked the instructor if she should use a filler for my highlighted hair, so the color would stay longer, but the instructor said that was unnecessary. I could tell the student disagreed, but she followed the lead. Color done, I am happy I have my natural color, all good. But it did not last long. In fact, 2 weeks after my appointment, which was also 2 weeks before my wedding, I had highlights again. I was so frustrated and I did not want to pay to do the same service I had just done two weeks before. My sister helped me by getting a hair gloss similar to my hair color and did my hair a couple of days before my wedding.
It was so upsetting to me because I trusted them to do my hair right before one of the greatest days of my life, and they did not seem to care. I reached out to the school, as they ask if you are unhappy, and told them about what happened to me. I received a message saying they would contact me, which they never did.
Now, months later, I have highlights back and decided to give them one more chance to make it right. I got a coupon, so it wouldn’t hurt as much if the service provided did not meet my expectations again. I went there, asked specifically for permanent dye this time, and again, love the color, the girl was great, but then they tell me I cannot use the coupon. I paid it in full and left.
What makes me so upset is not necessarily that they did not accept the coupon, but that I had a big problem with them, tried to contact them about it, was ignored, and had to pay for the service again because they did not do what I needed the first time. I would not be writing this review if they had done what they say they do.

I had the most amazing experience at Collectiv Academy with stylist, Jill Molloy! She worked her magic and thankfully revived my hair from being dry and brittle to smooth and healthy within a short couple of hours. The entire staff was warm, welcoming and super helpful to everyone. They made not only myself feel comfortable but went above and beyond to everyone who walked through their doors. Huge thank you to Jill! I absolutely love my hair!
