Summary- It's a school. Be ready to stay for 2-3x longer, casual vibes, and risks of mistakes happening for the tradeoff of 1/2-1/3 the usual cheap price. My experience- I usually go to a favorite salon, but I just needed a simple hair cut/layering and had some extra time on my hands. My hair stylist/student was open in saying she was more experienced in certain skills, but less experienced/still training in my type of hair. She was very humble and not shy about frequently asking her peers and instructor for advice and feedback throughout my cut to make sure it came out great. The instructor even did final tweaks herself at the end- I got many compliments from friends for days. I didn't even care that it took quite a long time (~2.5 hours for wash/cut/layer/style) because everyone was so friendly, so it was a fun experience anyways.
