Listening is the #1 necessary skill NOT TAUGHT HERE! The instructors don't listen, nor does Corey. Many students are constantly on their phones or gossiping. They are rarely paying attention to anything they are doing. I have 50 years experience with pro's coloring my hair and vast knowledge through that experience. I came here because I'm traveling and I'm not wealthy enough to bring my stylist on my travels. If you want simply 8 chunks of highlights, you get 3,000 so your hair is all one color. You even show them pictures. They don't pay attention. If you tell them to use a 10 developer to avoid damage and because that's what works on your white new growth, they sneak in a 20 which is wrong for white hair. Then they tone and turn your hair purple, (because of not listening) and still expect you to pay and tip.... without any apologies. There should be lots of apologies.

When I enrolled at Paul Mitchell Tulsa, I was looking for an education. What I found was so much more than that.
Over the last 15 months, I drove more than 36,000 miles to attend school—roughly 100 miles a day, five days a week. There were days when the drive felt impossible, days when life felt heavy, and days when quitting would have been easier. But every mile was worth it.
Paul Mitchell Tulsa didn't just teach me cosmetology. They helped me become the person I was trying to grow into. As someone in recovery, I walked into this school carrying a past that could have easily defined me. Instead of judging who I used to be, they supported who I was becoming.
The education was incredible, but the people made the difference.
Debbie was always willing to help and answer questions. Christina became a huge source of support from the very beginning, especially during some of the moments when I doubted myself. Jade met me exactly where I was, both emotionally and educationally, and somehow never got tired of answering my endless "why" questions. Aaron became my cutting mentor, teaching with honesty and real-world experience while making sure his students truly understood the craft. Stacy showed belief in me through her actions, not just her words, and Natasha became family. From our first meeting in Oklahoma to standing on stage in Los Angeles sharing my story, she never stopped encouraging me, supporting me, and celebrating my growth.
Because of this school, I had opportunities I never imagined possible. I learned from industry leaders, met celebrity artists, attended incredible events, and gained experiences that extended far beyond the classroom.
What I appreciate most is that Paul Mitchell Tulsa gave me the confidence to walk into any room and feel like I belonged there. They helped me find my voice, build my skills, and believe in myself. They taught me that success isn't just about technical ability—it's about connection, character, and showing up as your authentic self.
If you're considering cosmetology school, know that your experience will be what you make of it. If you're willing to put in the work, ask questions, stay coachable, and embrace every opportunity, Paul Mitchell Tulsa can be a place that changes your life.
For me, it absolutely did.
Forever grateful. Forever a Dean's List graduate of Paul Mitchell Tulsa. Forever proud of how far I've come.
