I graduated from the cosmetology program at the North School, and I had a fabulous experience. The school has a very positive environment. I always felt supported by both instructors and students. The other students were always willing to help and step in if I needed anything, and I always knew that if I felt a service didn’t go well, there would always be someone who would help me focus on the positives of the experience. The instruction itself also prepares students for a career as a cosmetologist in addition to taking the licensure exam. The classroom focuses on the theory that you will be tested on, and the practice in the floor prepares you for how a typical salon will operate. The instructors would also so helpful in giving me different options for post-graduation, and letting me know the fields of focus they think I would excel in. I chose Baldwin Beauty primarily for the accommodating schedule, and the flexibility the school allowed was extremely helpful. If I ever had to leave early or miss a day, even if it was short notice, the staff was very understanding and would make sure I was informed about any instruction I may have missed. Baldwin also works with multiple product lines which helps prepare for real world experience. Rather than working with, and thus having education with, exclusively one product line, the school provides multiple and allows students to experiment. I got a lot of experience comparing and contrasting similar products, and the instructors were always open to letting me try out new things. Because of this, I feel confident in my ability to adapt to any product line a salon might use, and I can go in with the knowledge that I know a variety of products and can adapt my approach to what a particular client needs. Finally, I also got experience with a variety of services. Haircuts, color services, facials, manicures; any service offered by the school, I did. I feel secure walking into any salon because I know that I will be able to do any service that gets thrown at me. The instructors pushed me to do services that I would otherwise have shied away from, and they were always there to support me, no matter how nervous I was, throughout the service. If I felt the service didn’t go as well as I wanted it to, they were always willing and prepared to give me feedback. All in all, I had a fantastic experience, and it is definitely a school worth considering if you are looking for an all encompassing cosmetology education.

As a current student, I can honestly say enrolling here has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. The instructors are so knowledgeable, patient, and truly want to see us succeed not just in passing tests, but in becoming confident professionals. I’ve gained so much handson experience already, from coloring and cutting to working with real clients, and I feel supported every step of the way. The atmosphere is encouraging, creative, and feels like a second family. I’m leaving this program with not only the technical skills I need, but also the confidence to start my career in the beauty industry.
