I recently visited a Salon Professional beauty school in the Hermitage/Donelson area, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at any beauty school. I’ve been to several beauty schools before and always received better service, so this was extremely disappointing. First, the pricing was completely different from what was listed on their website. When I asked, I was told that prices depend on the “level of the student,” something they never mentioned beforehand. That should be clear to customers before booking. I only came in for a simple pedicure, but I was rushed through the entire process from start to finish. They had very limited polish options, and the one used on me went on streaky and uneven. The student even admitted that they “don’t really care about pedicures,” which made me wonder why they even offer the service if they don’t plan to give the same level of care and quality as their other services. To make it worse, when she realized near the end that the backup bottle was brand new and NOT streaky, she still didn’t go back and fix my polish or add an extra coat or top coat. She just rushed me out. The instructors were also rude and didn’t check in with me or ask if I liked the service at all. And if you want a refund? You have to apply and be “approved” before they’ll give you your money back. For a school service, the pedicure was way overpriced—$24 for a rushed, incomplete service. I could’ve gone to a regular nail salon, paid $40, and received 10x better customer service and quality. I will never go back, and I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone

I’ve been coming here for a while, but my most recent haircut was really disappointing. When I first left, I thought it looked cute because it was styled. However, after I went home and washed my hair, I realized how uneven the cut actually was. I only asked for layers, but it ended up looking like a short, blunt bob on top with long hair underneath. One side of my head was also about half an inch longer than the other, which made it look very uneven. My hair was originally past my chest before the cut. The student who was doing my hair was doing a good job until the instructor came over and said it needed more "shaping". The instructor then held up a large sections of my hair and had the student cut them, which is where the blunt bob effect came from. This really wasn’t the student’s fault—it was done under the instructor’s direction. I was honestly so upset that I cried when I realized how bad it looked. I ended up going to another salon to have it fixed, and the stylist there was shocked. She even had to get another stylist to help because of how uneven the cut was. One of them said they had never seen a haircut this uneven before. The only way to fix it was to cut my hair to my shoulders, even though my hair had been a little past my collarbone minus the short bob layer. There is also still slight hole near my right ear where the hair doesn’t blend fully, so I have to wear hair clips to hide it while it grows out. The stylist at the other salon who fixed my hair is honestly a miracle worker because she somehow managed to salvage it. She also showed me how to style it to cover it up. I suppose every women has one nightmare of a haircut and this one was mine.

I had been going to a very popular salon and could not get the color I wanted so I decided to try The Salon Professional Academy and was thrilled with the results. My stylist Ella was wonderful! She listened to me and explained the color options and showed me wigs with the colors so I could see exactly how my hair would look. She came up with a great suggestion and my hair color is the best it has looked in years. Ella is fantastic and I highly recommend you try her for a gorgeous hair color and style.
