Working as a Fashion Designer

Fashion design is an industry where long hours, hard work, and experience can make all the difference in your career. If you are ready to pay your dues and shape the career you want by learning from successful professionals, you may really enjoy working in the fashion industry! As a fashion designer, you may complete a wide selection of tasks on a daily basis. If you’re new to a company or still getting established in your career, you may spend your days working under an experienced fashion designer. This may mean sketching out their designs, doing market research, pitching ideas to higher-ups, or sewing examples of others’ designs. As you build your reputation and take on more responsibility in your career, you may be asked to create your own designs and make them fit the needs of your target market. It’s important to stay flexible while working as a fashion designer. You may need to put in some fairly long days while preparing for the launch of a new line or getting ready for a fashion show. If you are willing to keep the schedule required by your employer, you may be able to move up in your career. This field also gives you the chance to contribute to your community. Many fashion designers donate designs or clothing to charity events, like a recent fashion show held for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
