LASER TRAINING - OHIO

Laser Training
IN
Ohio

What unique skills do you bring to the beauty industry? If you communicate naturally and easily with people, have steady hands, and are capable of intense focus, you could be a great fit for a career in laser technology.

Ohio laser training programs teach aspiring laser technicians all about laser theory, safety, and proper use of lasers for hair removal. Upon completing your classroom and practical training, you may be eligible for employment at a number of beauty facilities all over Ohio.

State License Requirements
N/A

Currently, laser technicians in Ohio do not follow a specific licensing protocol. However, you do have to meet certain requirements before you can work as a laser technician. The State of Ohio Medical Board does allow non-medical professionals to do cosmetic laser hair removal services without physician supervision. You also do not need supervision if you are an electrologist. However, these standards are only in place for cosmetic services. People doing laser hair removal for medical cases must be supervised by a physician. Every laser hair removal facility needs a medical director.

Education Details

You need a great education to be trusted by a medical director.

As you learn about OH laser training programs, make sure you choose a school that covers the following topics:

  • Theory of laser hair removal Interaction of light with hair and skin
  • Client consultations
  • Treatment settings
  • Treatment protocols
  • Treatment complications
  • CPR Laser safety
  • Sanitation and sterilization
  • Setting considerations
  • Regulatory standards

While classroom theory is important, hands-on experience may be even more crucial. Your hands on training helps you perfect your technique, become confident in your skills, and develop the skills that medical directors look for. Before committing to a school, make sure you know exactly how many procedures you get to participate in as a student.

In Ohio, professional nurses and estheticians often seek laser training to add to their skills and seek new professional opportunities. If you work in the healthcare or cosmetic industries, this might be a good career path for you as well. You will want to take a course or program that is recognized by the National Council on Laser Certification (NCLC). This organization helps medical directors and state medical boards feel confident in your work. Once you register with this organization you will need to renew it every three years by submitting this application, along with your fee of $95.

Waxing, laser hair removal, facials, and more. These are just a few of the services that make a salon environment a perfect job option for trained hair removal and skincare technicians. The health care field is another quality option. In the health care field, technicians may gain a higher sense of purpose by serving those who need them for purely medical reasons.
