Electrolygy Schools and Licensing Requirements in Missouri

The field of permanent hair removal is a growing field, with more and more customers discovering new hair removal options every day.

If you want to get in on this field at the ground level, now is a great time to learn about the field of electrology and what it involves by contacting the schools listed below.

State License Requirements

Missouri is one of the few states that does not regulate electrology in any way, so you do not have to meet specific requirements in your choice of education program. However, be sure to choose a program with plenty of hands-on experience. You want to feel confident about performing electrolysis on patients before you start working independently as an electrologist.

Education Details

Subjects you may cover in your education include conditions that contraindicate the use of electrolysis, the sanitary and safe use of equipment, and the various electrology modalities that exist. You will also learn a great deal about skin itself how to use different electrolysis modalities in your day-to-day work. This includes techniques like the single needle method, the multiple needle method, and thermolysis.

Electrology is not currently regulated in the state of Missouri. That’s why we would direct you to the website for the American Electrology Association to learn about their Board Certification program. By obtaining this certification, you can work legally in this state. Many 600 hour electrology programs will prepare you for the Certified Practitioner of Electrology Exam given by the AEA. Even though Missouri does not have continuing education requirements, you should consider the ones offered by the AEA to keep your skills fresh.

Job Outlook Increase
Between 2012 - 2022

From 2012 to 2022, O*Net anticipates a 31% increase in skin care specialist jobs. Salaries in the field of electrology depend on your expertise and your level of experience, amongst other factors. Per O*Net, skin care specialists in Missouri earn an average salary of $33,000 per year, which is slightly higher than the national average salary.

Working as an Electrologist

The electrology industry in Missouri has experienced steady growth recently, and industry specialists predict this trend to continue. Customers consistently seek out more permanent methods to reach their aesthetic goals, and many turn to electrolysis as the perfect hair removal solution. Entering this profession requires licensure in most states, and salaries reflect this.
