Hours

Before you can work as an electrologist in Utah, you must get your license from the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. You must show proof that you've completed the required 600 hours of training and pass two exams: a theory exam and a practical skills exam. Upon earning your license, you must renew it every two years. Utah is one of few states that does not require continuing education hours for renewal.

Education Details

You can typically plan on completing a training program in 6 months to one year. During the course of your program, you'll learn the techniques and technology of permanent hair removal, safety and hygiene techniques, anatomy and physiology, hair growth patterns, and Utah electrology statutes. Your curriculum will likely also cover how to offer professional clinical care. A significant part of your education will include practical experience. You may practice different types of hair removal, including thermolysis techniques, galvanic techniques, and progressive epilation techniques. While working on clients, a qualified instructor will oversee and direct your practice. You may work with people with different hair types and remove hair from different parts of the body.
