Like many other beauty careers, electrology may allow you to work in salons, spas, or other settings. If you think this field of beauty would be right for you, contact the beauty schools in New Jersey to compare programs that can help you achieve your goal.

Education Details

As an electrologist, you'll be expected to work with some of the most advanced equipment in cosmetology. That's why it's important to get several hundred hours of training in the proper usage of electrolysis equipment. Much of your time may be spent learning how to use electrolysis tools. This involves mastering your techniques, including single needle methods, multiple needle methods, thermolysis, and the blend method. Your instructors may also cover how to adjust your technique for different clients' needs. Electrolysis differs from patient to patient in probes, intensity, timing, and depth of insertion. Learning about different types of hair growth can assist you in determining how to best serve a client. Keeping a clean and sanitary workplace is one of the most important parts of electrology in New Jersey. To keep your business up to code, you'll need to be skilled in sanitation, sterilization, and disinfection. Minimizing the spread of infection is important, so you may be tested heavily on this subject.

Working as an Electrologist

There are several things you can do to get as much as possible out of your career. Networking is extremely important in this field. Electrologists tend to work on referrals, so try building connections with local cosmetologists, doctors, and other beauty professionals. If you make their clients happy, they may refer other clients with excessive hair growth to you. Since electrolysis is relatively new to most people, you may need to put in some hard work to market your skills and get clients in the door. However, once people realize that electrolysis is considerably more affordable than other types of hair removal, you may find yourself flooded with clients! Marina Shtemberg is a local electrologist that has turned this exciting field into a rewarding career. She started out with a few clients, but a huge increase in demand and referrals quickly led to a full schedule. With her knowledge of electrolysis, she was able to open her own business and help more patients. It's important to be willing to spend lots of time with your patients. They may be unsure or nervous about electrolysis, particularly if they've failed to get rid of excess hair many times in their lives. Communicating with patients and helping them make the right choice for their permanent hair removal can help you enjoy fulfillment in your career.
