Barber Schools and License Requirements in Delaware

Many barbers view this profession as a lifelong venture, with career appeal long past typical retirement age. Case in point is DC’s very own Jose Rodriguez, who celebrated 50 years of cutting hair in 2015. Do you want a career that can last that long? Or, do you dream about giving back to your D.C. community like “54th and Cutz,” a non-profit program ran by barbers to teach troubled youth barbering skills? No matter what your goals, there are barber schools in D.C. that want to speak with you.

When you decide to move forward, you’ll need the best advice. Luckily, that’s what we’re here for! In fact, for several years we have helped over millions of students find cosmetology school programs, including barbering, so they can pursue careers in the beauty industry. Don’t wait to start rocking the D.C. barbering scene. Use the search box at the top of this page to check out your options – or simply scroll down to view a list of schools near you.

State License Requirements

There are two ways to become a barber in Delaware. You can either attend a 1,500-hour training program or complete a 3,000-hour apprenticeship program. You may then sign up to take your exams through PCS. The combined exam fee is $218, which covers your practical exam and your written exam. You can then receive your license to work as a master barber.
