Kansas allows students to become cosmetology instructors if they have their cosmetology license, since they do not certify instructors in this state. After you complete you licensure, you will need to acquire 300 training hours and 450 teaching hours to qualify. You do not need to take continuing education units as part of maintaining your licensure. However, you will need to renew your cosmetology license every two years by the last day of the month of your original licensure. To renew, you will pay a fee of $60 to the Kansas Board of Cosmetology.
