You can be like Kristina Clifton, who serves as the administrator of the cosmetology program at Gadsden State Community College. She was the recipient of an Exceptional Teacher Achievement Award in 2016 for her inspiration to students and ability to manage the school’s cosmetology program, which has been around for over 25 years. So, are you ready to step up to the front of the class and start cosmetology instructor training right now? Perfect! Let’s roll…

State License Requirements

In Alabama, you must meet specific requirements to become a cosmetology instructor. You need to either complete 1,500 hours of teacher training at a registered school or complete 650 hours of teacher training after working as a cosmetologist for at least one year. You can then schedule your written and practical exams, which currently cost $75 and $120. The original licensing fee is $40.
