Esthetician Schools and Careers in Chicago
Chicago could be the perfect place for you to begin or continue your esthetician career. With its high winds, pollution, and ever-changing temperatures, the city can wreak havoc on one's skin. In fact, following a massive 2016 study of skin challenges in the 150 most populated U.S. cities, WalletHub ranked Chicago 132 in "Skin Care and Health."
In response to this need for skin care treatments, the Chicago area employs the third-highest number of estheticians, also called "skin care specialists," of all metropolitan areas in the United States. Employment in Illinois is anticipated to further grow by 4% during the 2016 to 2026 period, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Though the BLS reports an annual mean wage of $29,410 as of 2018, Chicago’s size means there are opportunities here that are unavailable elsewhere. For instance, the International Esthetics, Cosmetics, & Spa Conference is held in the city each year.
Illinois requires that all estheticians complete a minimum of 750 hours, or at least 18 weeks, of skin care study. All of Chicago's esthetics programs meet these needs. Read on to learn more about some of the esthetics institutes in the Windy City!
