To become an expert nail tech in Texas, you will need more than just a strong foundation in basic applications. License Renewal Period

Texas requires you to renew your license every two years by your original licensure date. The cost to renew your license is $50. Barber licenses are now $55 to renew. Cosmetologists, manicurists and estheticians under the cosmetology statutes are required to take 4 hours of continuing education during their licensure period. One hour must relate to sanitation and three hours must relate to methods. The laws regarding barber licensure do not require continuing education to renew licenses.

Nail technologists service a client's nails with manicures, pedicures, nail shaping, cuticle care, removing calluses, synthetic nail treatments and nail polish application. Texas has a few requirements that must be met before you become a nail tech.

  • Complete and pass manicurist school.
  • Pass the written and practical nail technician exams.
  • Obtain and maintain your license.
